Online auction giants eBay have recently announced that 2013 will be a good year for the sellers on their website. They have stated that they will implement new shipping discounts for their sellers, starting this year.
eBay had this to say in their press release:
“[We will be introducing] Group discount schemes for sellers of all sizes.
[This will provide] New initiatives to make shipping to next door, or the other end of the world, easier than ever”.
By doing this, eBay aim to introduce straightforward, affordable shipping for smaller businesses, who are not of sufficient size to access the shipping discounts afforded to large companies, whose large scale deliveries make them highly desirable.
As the forefront of online auctioning, eBay like to take the lead. As a result of this, they will be introducing a number of these new initiatives, which will aim to improve the shipping experience for their army of sellers.
One of their primary initiatives is to make international shipping a simple, easy and affordable process. They plan to achieve this by creating discounts for groups, as well as simplifying the pricing structure for all types of seller. The latter method will concentrate on small to medium sized sellers, as this will allow them to quickly expand their business and, consequently, direct more sales through eBay.
As well as this, eBay aim to negotiate a flat, competitive shipping rate for smaller businesses that can’t compete with the giants in their sector. Much like their first initiative, eBay hope that this will give small sellers a much needed boost and act as an accelerant to their rate of growth. As a result of this, they hope to receive larger and more frequent orders from these expanding businesses, resulting in a win-win situation.
