John Lewis Bid to Expand Parcel Collection System

Recent announcements from retail giants John Lewis inform customers that they can expect their click and collect service to continue, following a new partnership with parcel collection service CollectPlus. Currently, customers have been able to arrange collection of their parcel at around 230 John Lewis outlets but with the recent partnership announcement, shoppers can now expect the click and  collect service to expand to a further 5,000 local shops, all of which are currently in the collect plus network.

“We’ve designed the CollectPlus service to ensure that customers find collecting and returning items as easy and as painless as possible,” stated Neil Ashworth, chief executive at CollectPlus. “The extended opening hours associated with all CollectPlus stores allow customers to drop off or return items outside of the traditional trading day.”

Karen Dracou, head of omnichannel development, added that click and collect orders have almost doubled during the last year, accounting for a massive 35% of online sales over the Christmas 2012 period. A survey from Barclaycard last week showed that department stores are amongst the primary beneficiaries of growth in online retail spending during 2012.
