Trendy consumers who shop regularly for items of clothing and accessories are more active than ever, a recent study shows. Conlumino, a team of research analysts for Webloyalty discovered that shoppers are now willing to devote more time to a single purchase, taking an average of 3.4 days to complete the ‘four phases’ of browsing, product research, purchase and product collection. In comparison to figures in 2002, customers took only half a day to locate and purchase their chosen product.
The report showed that developments in technology contribute massively to this shift in figures, the various platforms that shoppers can browse the items on (such as tablets, mobiles and laptops amongst desktop computers) makes the shopping experience much more convenient. Shoppers can look up extra info on various items they see in the shops from their mobile browsing devices and take time out on the train, in a café or even in bed to look for reviews and info to help them decide.
Nearly 91% of online shoppers now use at least two ‘channels’ to browse product information when shopping for clothes and other fashion accessories. While the time shoppers spend shopping for an item comes in at an average of over 30 minutes longer than they did in 2002, the time they spend researching the product has decreased, possibly due to the speed and convenience of the information and testimonials on many sites, as well as consumer’s reliance on the internet being more than it was ten years ago.
